This is hard to believe, having been on my school board! I did read the article yesterday but I don't remember exactly why the school called the police after the kid refused to take off his shirt or turn it inside out. Is there a "written" school policy about what is and isn't allowed to be written/pictured on a student's T-shirt? If so, then the penalty also needs to be spelled out in writing. How about calling the kids parents and either having them bring in a different T-shirt or take him home.....assuming what was written on his T-shirt violated the "Dress Code"!!! So, again, why were the police called and in a school setting, keeping in mind,the above stuff in writing or not, why would it become a "crime" for the student to continue to maintain the same position he did w/ school authorities, with the police and that now being deemed something like not following the request of a police officer is now a jailable offense!!! As a parent, I'd be checking the "written" dress code and be checking out what is being "allowed" on kids T-shirts!!!
